It's a Final Countdown...

..17 days left of this project.

I finally had time to exercise after Christmas and I liked my new training program a lot. Now my muscles are hurting because I had so long break due to my flu and Christmas and husband's fever. 

I have now started the final spurt before my project ends. I have couple of days to fall into temptations still. New year's eve and my husband's birthday in the beginning of the January. Actually, it has been difficult to eat properly after Christmas, much more difficult than I thought beforehand. It would be so easy to find old me, who ate everything and had yoyo weight change all the time, and return to old bad habits again. And I'm not that strong as I thought I would be and I'm more worried about the maintenance of my weight and new body. More worried than I was when I wrote about it couple of writings ago. Especially, that I have to go to office and work 40 hours per week, and have daycare, new job and home maintenance that I have to also think. 

Anyway, now that I'm in the final metres of this weight losing project, I'm going to update my weight to the milestones table once a week as I already have done last Friday..

Too Calm Christmas

My husband had fever during the Christmas so I had to give up the plans to exercise and walk and run outdoors. I looked after the kids to give husband chance to heal. Anyway, today we had guests and I finally went for a walk. I dream of running tomorrow if it won't be too cold. It has been somewhere -20 degrees the whole Christmas so perhaps I exercise front of the TV instead. We have plans to meet relatives and friends for every day the rest of the holiday so hopefully the others won't have flu now and we could meet finally people after too calm Christmas days home indoors.

Fittness Test Before Christmas

I finally had some time to do fitness test before we calm down for Christmas. Kids are for some reason quite hyperactive at the moment. They are too exited to wait Santa Claus visit. So I had some interruptions while running high knees. Then the kinect sensor needed calibration because I moved it due to living room cleaning and even if I had done it the sensor couldn't see my one leg raise at all. For these reasons my endurance and flexibility wasn't in the same level as before.

On the other hand, I could do 25 single leg squats with both legs, 10 men's push-ups and my balance score raised a lot. Still, I'm proceeding with the program even if it has been in a use for one year now.

Fitness Score was 57 this time and Athleticism Score is 51. And all points below.

-34kg After the Birth

I woke up this morning and made quite an unbelievable result in the weigh-in this time. I have lost 2.5 kilogrammes in two weeks meaning 22 kilogrammes from January and actually, meaning 34 kilogrammes from the day I gave a birth. I have drank too little water but eaten proberly, expect the day and night we barbequed, and I have exercised much less than before due to the flu I have had. That's why I also decided to skip the fitness test and do it maybe tomorrow, if I feel energetic enough. But still, I got a good result.

The whole week has been actually totally unbelievable and I have started to believe in Santa Claus again. The new job is the best present for years I guess.

Flu, New Job and Barbecuing

I haven't updated the latest news since the whole family has been in a flu last week just when I planned to have lighter week without hard exercising. And in the beginning of this week I finally managed to get a new job which should start on January, so that took all my time. And then somewhere there in between other businesses we barbecued with the friends on Sunday, drank alcohol and had a one day pause from the dieting. I didn't gain any weight because of that so it was a good boost to the end of this project. 

And now I still have flu. I walked today couple of kilometres but I guess this week still goes without exercising. Let's see, can I do the fitness test on Friday or should I just try it later..

Concern over Next Year

Part of us has got the habits to take care of own bodies from the parents. Part of us doesn't have to pay attention to their food or exercising. Taking care of own body or respecting healthy way of living is a habit that part of us has grown into. Unluckily, I haven't got any habits to exercising or proper eating as kid and I need this kind of projects to learn them. 

Now, that the easiest part of the project to get healthier and longer life is soon coming to an end I have started to be worried about my part II of the project. How am I going to maintain my habits to exercise and eat well? How can I keep my weight down in a level where I in this project succeed to decrease it?  What if I start to gain weight again and in a year I'm 10 kilogrammes bigger again. And if I don't care it then, when am I going to gain another ten kilos? I have heard so many successful weight losing projects but how many really successful maintance projects there exists? Do I have power to keep the spirit and create one of those success stories? If I am returning to an office and three kids are waiting for mum's attention in the evenings, when I have time to think of myself?

I must succeed, there is no other option! I have wanted this so long..!

Btw, I'm already 32 kilogrammes lighter than when I had a birth a year ago..

Weigh-in Result

Yesterday, my weight was 19.5 kilogrammes lower than in January. It was so close that I could have already celebrate my 20 kilos weight loss. But my weight is now only 3.5 kilogrammes behind the target I have set when it was 5.5 kilogrammes behind still in October. I can still reach the target!

Today, I started to fit old clothes on and realised that I can fit already into every target clothes I have saved here at home. I even wore my old dress which I wore 13 years ago when I passed high school and it looked good on me. I have only too big clothes and fitting clothes now. Wow, and I should bring my old wedding dress from the storage and try it also.

Chocolate Bars, Ciders, Burger Meals etc.

I hate my aerobic sessions nowadays. I guess they are a bit too heavy for me with all the jumping jacks, x-jumps, and x-jump combos. Lately, I've been I thinking that my weight is on the level, which it was after my wedding. So actually now my pram walking and aerobic sessions are burning the fat I achieved with the wedding cake and other bad food I have eaten after the wedding, almost ten years ago. So, today I started to say aloud all the things I have eaten to get all the fat. Chocolate bars, Carrols meals, cider, gin long drinks, pizza, French fries etc. I got so much power to continue running with high knees and doing the x-jumps that I continued to the end of the drills, even if I would have otherwise given up. So once again, a great, more killing and harder exercise behind than ever.

I recommend the same method to anyone who is losing weight and hates it's hardness just now!

Happy Weekend Behind

It's December already tomorrow and it feels this year has gone so fast in the end. I'm so happy at the moment that I decided to use this year at home also to myself and my own wellbeing in addition to our son and the family. Nowadays I'm thinking during the pram walks that I'm earning extra years to my life with every step. It's very motivating. 

This weekend I kept one day beforehand planned break to my GoJuttaGo diet and ate chocolate cake, chips, gingerbreads and other delicacies on Saturday night when we had Christmas party with couple of my friends here at home. Kids were in my parents house two nights and we were there alternately one night with the husband so we both got own time overnight at home. It was the first night when me and the son slept separately. Luckily he is also daddy's boy so he didn't mind..

My weight was 0.5 kilogrammes higher this Sunday morning compared to the lowest result so I think the break will only boost the diet a bit. And I ran 90 minutes today as usual so the extra calories might be already burned..

Yesterday's Fitness Test Results

Here comes yesterday's fitness test results. No big change to the previous ones but part of the drills were better and then the others were worse than last time. For example, I could do only 4 men's push-ups and my best result is 10 and that's why my strength has worsen. On the other hand, my X-jump trainings have made me stronger and I could jump higher and increase the power from 34 to 44.

-2 Two Kilogrammes in Two Weeks and -18.5 Kilogrammes All Together!

Hi, I'm officially back to my own decade since I broke 70 kilogrammes. In this morning weigh-in my scale showed 68.5 kilogrammes. WoW! After 1.5-2.5 kilos I weight the same as when I got married. And since I start this GoJuttaGo diet I have lost steadily 3.5 kilos in 3.5 weeks.

More Walking, Diet and X Jump Hating!

I added more walking to my training program to have more exercising with low heart rates as was proposed in bicycle ergometer test. Now I try to walk three times a week 30-60 minutes before I start to run again. I hope it's also makes easier the 90 minutes running exercises I do during the weekends 'cause walking helps to keep my metabolism on higher level in between the long runs.

Diet goes very well. It's easier and easier to follow as far as I have learned the amount of the dishes by heart. 

The only thing I hate at the moment is the aerobic sessions of my Nike+ Kinect Training program. The sessions are so hard and long nowadays. 12 drills which have to be done two rounds include 4 different drills of X jumps. Nice. Earlier the drills where I ran with high knees and jumped in between were killing me but now there are also drills where I should only do X jumps for 60 seconds included.

About Ten Weeks Left

It's only about ten weeks still and this project is over. And seven weeks before Christmas. I'm not sure if I can reach the target I set in January to lose 24.5kgs but I'm much more leaner than earlier with the same weight that it might be possible to still fit into my own old wedding dress. I think that's more important than the actual number of kilos I've been able to lose. And most important thing is that exercising, running and proper eating is nowadays something that I don't have to think actively, so the probability that all the fat is gone forever is high.

But the project is not yet over. Work is continuing every day and I'm again a kilo lighter than last Friday, so everything is still possible. Now, I just should remember to pick the wedding dress from my parents house to try it on..

How Was Your Weekend?

Mine just went as usual. Saturday we spent time with the kids while daddy was hunting moose and we did father's day preparations meanwhile. Cake for dad and T-shirt with drawings for grandpa. Then we walked and played outdoors.

Sunday was time to wake up daddy with singing, cards and presents. Then quick visit to the cemetary and candles to the grave of my father in law. Then coffee and cake in my parents house. I managed to avoid all the cakes and temptations the whole day. Afternoon I spent 90 minutes in rain by jogging and in the evening I went to swim with our middlest.

Now I have felt tired because I didn't rest enough, once again, during the weekend. Hopefully couple of naps during the week energizes me back to normal.

Weigh-in

I lost -1.5kgs in two weeks and I have now followed the new diet only less than two weeks. BMI is now 24.4 and my total weight loss from the beginning of the project is 16.5kgs meaning that my weight today is 70.5 kilogrammes. Soon, I'll break a decade again and this time it's my own target decade and it will be the last time in my life that I say goodbye to 70ies.

First Week of New Diet Behind

..and I'm so glad I did it without falling for any temptations. I guess I have lost already 1-1.5 kilos since monday. In addition, I tried running with new heart rate limits and ran 90 minutes route yesterday. It was nice but still slow. But I guess I'm proceeding and will be in better running shape next summer than ever..! And some trousers are again too big. At least couple of pairs I bought before my latest pregnancy. Nice! I should blog a second part of the post Saying Goodbye to Too Big Clothes soon.

Registration to HCR and Training Program Update and New Diet

Today, I registered me and my husband to the next HCR 2015 half marathon which is next May. So now I have again target which I need to run forward. Then I updated my training program and diet again here.

I have successfully finished my GoJuttaGo meals in two days now. My diet didn't change a lot because I have already get used to vegetables and protein. Now there is only berries in the diet among the vegetables I eat next to a lunch and a dinner, so I may start to miss fruits soon. And because I've preferred morning eating my whole life and the big breakfast is not weird thing, I feel hungry before lunch. On the other hand in the evening it feels that I'm eating all the time and my stomach is full before the next food. And my head is so full of ideas at the moment how to variate the meals that I could cook all the time. And thus, I'm not very worried yet, that will I succeed with the new diet..

Bicycle Ergometer Test

Today it was time to try bicycle ergometer test for the first time of my life. I have always had very high maximum heart rate and have always been a bit worried that do I run my basic exercises with right heart rates. Couple of weeks ago I saw advertisement of the test on Facebook page of the gym nearhood where the equipment was hired and I decided to use the opportunity to try it.

At first I had to fill in  the initial information sheet and convince that I'm in good condition to do the test. Then my heart pressure was measured and then I get permission to jump on the bicycle. The test lasts for 10 to 20 minutes depending how good shape you are. First I warmed up couple of minutes and when it was time to start the test my heart rate was already over 130. The resistance was added every 2 minutes and the heart rate was measured all the time. It was weird that it didn't feel that bad as I thought before because it was only my legs that did the work. So even if I ended the test with maximum heart rate of 199 it didn't feel as bad as burned or mountain climbing I do with my whole body during the home training sessions.

In the end I got detailed information about my condition and heart rate levels. My VO2max value is 34 which is average condition level of the ladies of my age. I got advice to do my basic exercises with 129-149 heart rate. This far I have run with 120-140, or preferably under 130 so even if my basic condition is still bad, I could, at least in theory, add my tempo a bit. And my exercises could contain intervals where my heart rate is between 159-179.

I recommend the ergometer tests to anyone who is concerned of the own heart rate and wants to know own personal heart rate levels. Hopefully, I have change to try the test again sometimes next year to check my progress especially with the low heart rates.

Breaking the Records Part 3

It's time to recall again my proceeding in the fitness tests and home training sessions. So here comes Breaking the Records Part 3. The first and the second parts are done in March and in June.

One Leg Squats

My record of one leg squats is 22 with both legs. In the beginning of the project I couldn't do any, and in June my record was 15.


High-knees

High-knees means three drills of 30 seconds high-knee running with 30 seconds break in between. My best result in high knee running is 88, 89 and 92 and 99 is the record if only the best 30 seconds drill is counted.


Burbee

At first I couldn't do any Burpees properly but nowadays I can do all repetitions of the drill correctly by jumping back to push-up position and back. In the beginning I had to step back and step to return.


Men's push-ups

My record of the men's pushups is now ten. I could do more but I'm afraid to break my back so I haven't dare to do more.

Back to Normal Weight and 10 Men's Push-ups

I have again achieved my normal weight since I got weigh-in result of 72 kilogrammes today and my BMI is now under 25 which means normal weight.

In addition it was time to do fitness test and I could do 10 men's push-ups and 21 one leg squats with my both legs. I felt a bit tired before the test but I exceeded all my expectations and improved the result in most of the fields which have felt difficult lately. Fitness Score is now 64 and Athleticism Score is 46. And more detailed..

Autumn Vacation and Diet Plans

Our girls are having their autumn vacation this week and it's so hard to follow my diet now when the house is full of yelling and arguing kids. Actually I'm eating as before but I forget half of the snacks and then I get mad because I'm over hungry. In addition we had birthday parties last weekend and the fridge was full of cakes and delicacies which were left from the parties. 

I have now exercised already twice this week and last weekend's running I also did on Monday. And my mum looked after all of the three kids then and we ran together with my husband. I think we went running together last time about two kids ago. It was nice to notice that we actually ran together and my husband could ran next to me when the speed wasn't too low anymore.

I haven't breastfed anymore for about two weeks now and I could really speed up my diet now. I have planned to stop eating all the candy and delicacies until Christmas and try to tighten my diet still. My finnish readers have heard about GoJuttaGo diet and that is what I'm going to follow now till the end of the project. Because I'm eating already lots of vegetables and protein, for me it basically mean that I still check the fat I get to the lower level. And instead of milk protein and meat I'd like to modify the diet a little bit with more soya and vegetables.

I guess the conclusion of my writing is that I'm still able to reach my goal to fit into my wedding dress before Christmas..

Proper Exercising

Wow, I have exercised properly again and it feels so good. On Sunday I went for a 90 minutes run. I ran over 8 kilometres and I forgot the heart rate checking and changed speed with the feeling and music I had with me after a long period of silent exercising. Running was nice after a longer pause and my leg muscles were sore on Monday due to the speedy route I did.

And yesterday I made aerobic session of my Nike+ Kinect Training program and it was harder than I recalled. I have done only muscle trainings since I started to prepare myself for the September's half marathon. My three year old daughter exercised with me in her ballerina suite. I think I should try the ballerina suite too because it seemed so much easier to do Burpees and mountain climbing in it. She is going to gymnastics weekly and has been thrilled of the home training since she started. Yesterday she was doing the exercise after her own gymnastics glass and today she has been quite tired due to double exercise she did.

I myself was able to do two drills of Burpees properly and my star jump obviously looks like star jump 'cause the personal trainer didn't have to remind me to jump higher this time at all! Maybe I have got stronger muscles since I did star jumps last time even if the cardio workout itself was hard.

All the time I have had outside the training sessions I've been preparing of the double birthday we have soon. It's nice that the kids have birthdays in the same week. Mum is tired.

Rainy Day of October

It was so nice to spend the rainy day by doing muscle training and spending time in the pool in the baby swimming with my lovely son. He loves when I blow to the water and tries to do the same. We did many successful divings which was nice because I was a bit afraid we can't dive anymore because we have had two longer breaks due to the flus he has had.

also.

Silence, Chocolate, Exercising and Surviving

I've been lazy to update the blog lately. I just feel that there is nothing new going on in the project.

I'd love to have candy, and chocolate, and chips, and... And this feeling has been lasting now a week now. I think it's because I've been tired and on the other hand I haven't done very many hard exercises after the half marathon, which makes me to want candy. Still, I've been walking and running but only with the kids.

But I'm going to be again more active now on. I did fitness test today to create new training program (and could do 20 one leg squats with both sides!!!) and planned to do exercises with Nike+ Kinect Training twice a week and then 90 minutes running once a week. I forget the heart rate monitor and all the plans now until I begin to prepare for the challenges of next summer. But I've got good running condition during this year so now I want to keep it up that I don't have to start again from the beginning then. Other exercising I try to do with the kids.

I was alone last weekend with the three kids and I'm so happy how greatly we survived. Husband was visiting a friend. I don't even remember when we have been separated two nights with my husband, if hunting isn't counted. But usually I get help from my mum if husband is going for hunting but this time I tried to come along by myself. We spent lot of times outdoors and crafted some invitations to soon coming birthday party, which will also challenge my project with all the sweets and cakes.

Weight and Fitness Status After 36 Weeks

Two kilogrammes off in two weeks again. And the secret is Five Handfuls a Day, 3 litres of water per day and protein counting. And I also made the fitness test again. Part of the results are worse than previously but I'm proud that part of me is getting better. My endurance score is going higher and higher which I'm so happy because it's already better than my husband's score. Hah!

Everything Else Than Running in Turn

I tried running as I told before but the nails didn't feel to be ready for harder running or walking exercises. That's why I planned to continue with lighter exercises and everything else than running.

Yesterday I walked with the pram for eight kilometres and in the evening I took daughter to gym class by bicycle. I have bought new twin bicycle trailer, like this, in summer but due to running and other activities I haven't yet used it much. But now I have had time to try it more. The trailer included running wheel also so it can be used on my running routes too. 

And today I had to continue my muscle trainings with Nike+ Kinect Training. My body just required it. Now I feel much better after the two rounds of muscle drills. The first round felt so ridiculous and too easy to be done alone so I took extra round and felt that I could have done third round too. But then household duties called and I had to stop. But my body feels already much slimmer as my muscles have been activated after a long pause.

Monday and Walking Three Times

I have walked three times today and tried to keep myself moving even if I don't have any training program just now when I tried to recover from the half marathon. Today I ran a bit longer and faster but I had my old running shoes on and my nails that felt to be off after the half marathon started again to feel weird and I had to stop and continue by walking.

I have to increase home training 'cause I can't continue running properly yet. Wednesday I'll continue Nike+ Kinect Training activities again.

Weigh-in After 34 Weeks

I had one kilo extra weight compared to the result I had two weeks ago. Thanks to the carbohydrate refueling I have had due to half marathon. Now it's time to tighten the diet and exercises to achieve my main goal and fit into my wedding dress..!

I have walked this week already 14 kilometres and tried also running steps a bit, even if I haven't been able to do anything else due to leg and back pain I have had after the running event.

Quick Recovery

Even my half marathon didn't go as fast as I planned, I'm happy how fas I have recovered. On Sunday I had difficulties to walk but now I have been able to run a bit already today and yesterday. Earlier, it has taken couple of weeks to recover. And I'm quite sure that my muscles are ready for squats next week.

Tomorrow I should have my weigh-in but due to carbohydrates I have eaten for half marathon, I may weight more than two weeks ago.

Ruskamaraton in Levi, Lapland

Preparation

The main running event of the year is over now. The flu I had three weeks earlier affected still the last days preparations and I didn't feel very easy to breath there in Lapland. The weather was perfectly cool but air felt quite dry. Still, I decided to run with my 3 hours target time.

First kilometres

I planned to start the route very slowly because the first 2.5 kilometres there was hard uphill. Then I thought to speed up but it didn't feel very easy. I also felt my stomach didn't work very well so I didn't want to risk the finish line crossing so I just decided to go slower than planned.

Then

There was surprisingly peaceful to run with the three hours target. When I checked last year's results there was more runners who had run over 3 hours time and I thought I could have had more company there on the route but actually I had to run almost alone. Still, I feel that the finish line came easily and I wasn't that depressed during the last kilometres as I have been earlier. The medals of the Ruska Maraton looks nice and it was nice to have even if the time was over 3:10.

Afterwards

The muscles feels better already than after the previous half marathons I have run but lungs feel a bit more stuffy instead. And I could take running steps already today beside the bicycling kids. Even if the running was slower, somehow I succeed in steady running pace better than ever.  I'm very happy that even if there was over 60 metres variation in the altitude I could keep up running till the end. And yes, I'm already planning the events for the next spring.

Our Ninth Anniversary

This week we celebrated our ninth anniversary of our marriage. Or can you say it to celebration if it happened by eating pasta and thinking of the running vacation preparations? 

I have been thinking a lot the next year and our tenth anniversary and how good I'm going to look then. In January, I will fit into my own old wedding dress and if and when I can maintain the weight and condition till the September, I'm going to celebrate the round number anniversary in the best condition ever! And that dream is coming truth pretty soon..

And to come back on the earth from dream world, we are going to run here in Levi tomorrow! There is more and more panic than excitement on the air all the time.

Somewhere Between Excitement and Panic

Four nights left before the season's last running event and feeling is somewhere between excitement and panic. This is the phase when I at most think that why, oh why, did I ever end up to run. There is over 300 kilometres by car and 21.1 kilometres by running before I can relax again.

Sunday Running

Today I ran calmly 60 minutes. Even if my pace was down my heart rate was still a bit higher level than usual, due to the flu. I have also been very tired due to the new teeth of the baby and all the other goths that have bothered lately the kids nighttimes. I think I will recover totally before Saturday if I sleep few naps during the next week.

There is only couple of 20-30 minutes running exercises left before the half marathon.

99 High Knees and 13.5 Kilos Weight Loss

Fitness Test

Damn, I realised too late that I could have reached 100 steps in high knee running during the fitness test today. 99 steps in high knee running in 30 seconds is not a bad result and I'm so proud of it, even if affected to other drills of it, and I got worse result in endurance than four weeks ago. And it is my new record of the high knee running. The old record was 96, but still, 100 was so close.

This time and after 32 weeks I did already my ninth fitness test. It was easy to do with well rested muscles and in the end the result was surprisingly good, even if the exercising haven't been possible due the flu. My Fitness Score was 58 this time, which was 4 units better than previously but my Athleticism Score was 48, which was 5 units better. Again my athleticism score increased greatly. Weigh-in

This morning it was turn to weigh-in. This was 16. weigh-in after the initial one. Now my weight is going smoothly down and again the pace of 1 kilogramme in two weeks is found. After today's weigh-in my BMI is 25.4 and I have 1.5kgs left to my normal weight.

I have totally forgotten to reward myself after all the goals I have reached. I feel I haven't done that good because I haven't been able to keep my schedule even if I have burn 13.5 kilogrammes fat in about half year! But today I finally found new swimming suite (which looks like this) which I thought to buy as a birthday present to myself in July.

Three Exercises After the Flu

I have now exercised three times after the flu. On Sunday I tried long run. I planned beforehand that I'all try 90 minutes running but because it didn't feel that good I stopped after 70 minutes. On Tuesday it would have been time to do the last fast running exercise but I did the 30 minutes basic exercise instead. Today it was time to try Nike+ Kinect Training after three weeks break and it felt easier with the well rested muscles than the running exercises. Afterwards my knee hurt a little which has never happened before so I took ibuprofen to avoid inflammation now before the next week's event.

I have blogged inactively now 'cause there is nothing big to say now that I have to take it easy to get rid of the flu and be able to participate in running next week.

Last Long Run

I feel better and better with the flu all the time so tomorrow it's time to try running again. It would be time to do the last very long run but because of the flu I shorten it a little bit and run as long as it feels nice. 

I have walked few times and picked up some blueberries in the forest and currants in our backyard so even if the flu is bothering my reparation for the half marathon, I haven't stayed at home inactive.

I haven't been thinking my diet more than before in the whole summer but couple of weeks ago I started to count how much protein do I eat per day, and in addition to Five Handfuls a Day project, it has helped me to eat better and to keep up my weight losing. And I think I don't get enough protein per day but even the counting have helped me to increase the amount I eat it.

Sneezing and Coughing

I'm still having terrible flu and have become a bit concerned about the half marathon I should run after three weeks. Next week I should still have very long run and hard training but in the beginning of the week I need to rest, at least.

Tomorrow our oldest daughter has the first day in preschool. I think we are all exited about it. I'm happy that the preschool and daycare continue and I have more time for me and my project.

Weight Losing in the Amusement Parks

I'm back again. And even if the whole family was on the road for a week, I have been able to lose 1kg in two weeks. I think it is very well done in the middle of tempting foods! Now I'm proud of me!

We rent a camper and drove around for a week. Even if the holiday was great, I'm so glad we are at home and we have room to do things more than in the small camper with a small baby. Me or my husband was carrying all the time the baby who otherwise tried to eat everything from the floor or tried to stand up and fell down. Due to that we had to do everything alternately. And even if we are both rushing we usually need lot of time in mornings to go out with three kids, but with the alternation of the morning routines we were even slower. That was really nerves wracking before I could relax and accept that we can't help with the fact that we have a bit limited resources.

During the driving the son had more patience than the daughters have had when they were babies. Yesterday we drove 600 kilometres from southern Finland to home even if we first thought that we could spend still one night in the camper. I'm glad we did it because we are all in a terrible flu now. Yesterday we all were still healthy but in the evening first me and the son got symptoms of flu and today also both of the daughters have become sneezy too. And there is only three weeks till the half marathon..

Summer Challenges

Last real summer challenge is coming, which might risk my weight losing and exercising project. We are still travelling plans before the preschool and daycare starts and we are going to spent almost a week on the road this time. I just counted one day that if I have to do my long run of 150 minutes on the road, I should be left from the car three hours before place where we will have a break. I think I will have a bit longer run next weekend if I check the time to start from GPS of our car. Hopefully I have lot of opportunities for exercising during this trip.

Yesterday and this evening I did my exercises a bit opposite way than I would do usually. Because the days have been very hot here and it has been impossible to exercise during the afternoons, I have done my exercises just before the kids go to sleep. And because the kids are on holiday and they feel hot also we have been swimming in the river in the evenings just before my exercises. Just to mention one tip how to handle the exercising in hot circumstances, it helps a bit to keep oneself cool if exercises are done after swimming and long hair is wet already before sweating.

Last End Long Run in Hot Weather

I would like to have new hydration belt. My old one is too small with the four bottles of decilitre each when there is over 25 degrees and I am running the long run over 2 hours and especially when I try those fast end long runs.

In this sense it's nice to have autumn coming soon to get rid of all the problems that hot weather causes. I would like to listen to music also while running but with small clothes I don't have enough space to keep my phone or mp3 player with me when running. Boring. Soon this problem is solved also. Sooner than I have time to shop some arm belt for my phone.

It was the second time when I tried fast end long run, yesterday and I ran 80 minutes with my snail style pace and then 30 minutes with a bit higher intensity. I had to share my hydration bottles carefully to make them last till the end and I had to rush my cool down to have more water at home. My heart rate belt didn't work well, and I couldn't follow my heart rate but otherwise the running felt OK.  I was a bit tired when I had to raise my pace but it nice to experience the power coming back when just continuing and not giving up. Nice that even if it is hot and exercise has already continued over 1 and a half hours, the higher pace is easy to keep up.

And actually my mind goes through the same things than during the last kilometres of running events when I usually give up keeping the planned pace and when I feel to have some energy in my body which I just cannot release into use. I have been thinking it is more mental tiredness than just fuel ending in my body. I think I need some kind of method to think me to final line there in the end. I just should split the distance I have left into very small parts, e.g. 200 metres and decide that if I can go one part more, then I let myself to give up. I don't know, should try something next time when I run my last end long run.

Fitness Test After 28 Weeks

This time and after 28 weeks, my Fitness Score was 54, which was a unit worse than previously but my Athleticism Score was 43, which was even 9 units better. Nice to have finally some change to my athleticism also. The more detailed results look like this now:

Quick Start Training, Berries, and Some Cake

Today, it would have been time to end my training program by doing the fitness test but because my training program and fitness tests of this project are not in line anymore and I should do the fitness test and weigh-in again on Friday, I planned to postpone the training program ending till Friday and do a quick start training session of 30 minutes instead. I have tried the quick start sessions only once or twice before and I think previously it was only 5 or 15 minutes that I tried so it was a nice variation to usual sessions. 

I planned to do some moderate level dumbell training and I think the game picked me some drills quite randomly. I ended up doing three or four different variations of planks, men's pushups more than once, squat with and without dumbbells and different kind of deadlifts.  It was nice to try some drills that haven't been included in my program since I started in January and realise that it's peace of cake nowadays. For example, during one and a half lunges I got aha effect about the easiness of it. And it haven't been poorness of the game that all the repetitions haven't been counted earlier, but my poor technique I had due to missing muscles..

I've been also picking and freezing the strawberries of our garden lately. And today I went with the kids and my dad to pick up some blueberries to the forest nearhood. So it was time to freeze some blueberries also. And in the evening I tasted a peace of cheese cake today in a birthday party. Yum yum!

Finally It Is Raining

This morning I went for Nordic walking in very nice weather, at least the exercising point of view. It was raining a lot and there was only 21 degrees outside. The rest of the day there was even harder rain and lighting so I decided to get exercising out of the way before that. But it haven't been so easy to breath and exercise for weeks now so I really speed it up and enjoyed it. Last week I felt my energy storage emptied in 30 minutes but today I could continue with the same steady pace till the end and I ended up doing couple of minutes longer exercise than previously.

Snail Style Continues..

Last night I went to run when sun was already going down and it was a bit cooler. It was over 30 degrees in shadow daytime so for the first time I postponed my exercise till the evening. My heart rate didn't raise too high anymore and I could ran 25 minutes with the same pace as usually so I have mainly recovered from the quarter marathon now and tomorrow I'm ready for longer, 60 minutes, snail style running again.

We have painted part of the house but only the parts from the south side which suffer from the sun shine most. Tomorrow the painting still continues. I'm looking forward to do hard running exercises again! And my scale already shows lower result even if the official weigh-in date is on next Friday.

Project Speed Up!!

I did my first running exercise after the quarter marathon and I ran 20 minutes with the pram. Even if I felt I could have ran longer the heart rate was higher than usual and I ran even slower than usually. 

I have been behind my weight losing goals for eight weeks already which is shockinly longer time than I had been thinking it was and even if it stands there in my weigh-in table I haven't realised that this project has been so unsuccessful so long time. But after the last week's weight gaining and running event I have got new power to concentrate on weight losing again and this time I'm pretty sure that I do better weigh-in result next week than for long time! I'm sure that if my weight losing was in schedule I would have ran faster in the last week's event. Now I want my weight down faster to break my half-marathon record in September.

First Nordic Walking and Some Recovering Activities

On a Sunday evening we went for a walk with my husband and kids. Husband taught our oldest daughter to bicycle without training wheels and I walked and run with the pram when youngest daughter were bicycling too and I tried to warm up my leg muscles at the same time after the Saturday's running event. We stopped by to the nearhood forests couple of times to check if there is already some blueberries. BTW, in a week, I think, the blueberries are just perfect to be picked up.

Because the Sunday's walking felt so good I decided to try Nordic walking on Monday. I have dreamed to replace some home trainings with the Nordic walking now that the weather is so nice and it's more fascinating to exercise outdoors than in the hot living room. The first 20-30 minutes of my Nordic walking I could keep faster pace than during my snail style running exercises but then my pace slowed down and in the end I walked only 300 metres longer in 45 minutes that I would have proceed in my corresponding snail style running. The quarter marathon still felt in my body and I should have stopped the exercise earlier, I think.

I have also stretched my leg muscles now four days in a row to recover from the running. This evening I walked a bit before stretching. Our daughters are again spending couple of days in my parents and we have done shopping and planning of some painting and other small fixing that we should do in the house during this summer.

The Day of Running Event and Circus

I just came to tell you that I overcame the fair to fail again in quarter marathon in a hot day as a couple of years ago. I didn't meet my target of 75 minutes but it took a bit over 80 minutes all together. But I can't plame, it was hot weather again and I'm so lucky that I ran all the way to the finish line. I should soon write down the feelings that went through my mind during the running. It would help me in future to run faster. Now I felt that I wasn't very tired after all but I have some power storage in my body that I cannot release to run faster in the end of the route.

Anyway, now I do stretching and then it's time to sleep. We were in circus with the kids today after the running and I'm quite tired just now.

Weight Gained

Just when I decided to speed up my project a bit, I gained some weight for the first time after January when this project started. Unbelievable! Somehow the tricks I've been using this far is not enough to the weight losing anymore because the weight have been stucked to the around 77 kilograms. I haven't fell into eating even any summer delicacies even if I was a bit afraid of it beforehand. I haven't eating any candy for weeks now and when the others take ice cream, I eat fatless curd and berries. Hopefully this is some phase after which the weight losing speeds up again.

Crocodile Hunting

I came to tell you about my new activity I've been using to reach my target of this project. It's crocodile hunting. I'm doing it midnight when others are sleeping, except our 3 years old daughter, who is helping me with the hobby, because she can see the crocodiles, but I can't. They are hiding under or behind her bed and makes her impossible to sleep.. So, the preparing to the quarter marathon haven't been too easy because of the lack of sleep I've got. And because this is not enough to cause enormous lack of sleep, our son has his first ear infection, autsch! Well, it cannot get worse, can it?

Otherwise my life is pretty and all the exercises I've been doing to prepare myself goes fine. I have realized that I cannot get my heart rate up anymore when walking. Maybe it's a sign of my condition getting better. Today I walked with the pram and two bicycling kids to my parents and I mostly walked but also ran few steps and my average heart rate was 117, only. When I started the running exercises it was hard to keep the heart rate under 130 even if only walking.

And today, I got extra time of my own and I did 45 minutes whole body stretching on the terrace. Only three nights to the starting shot!

News after 25 Weeks

Running Exercises

The running exercises have continued in hot weather. I did my 30 minutes basic running on Friday and 60 minutes long run yesterday. Both exercises went ok, even if I was running in the hottest time of the day and actually I tried to start the exercises the same time as my event will start next Saturday. There is only six days left!

Fever

Our son had suddenly fever today. Hopefully it's not any flu I could get for Saturday when I should run the quarter marathon but it's because of the coming teeth.

Birthday

I should have some kind of age crisis going on because I turn to 32 soon. Actually, it feels better than 31. It felt more awful to turn to 31 than 30, I felt old and I was in bad condition but now I haven't got any crisis. Maybe last year I was the most terrible condition in my life due to the back problems and my pregnancy. I had to admit for the first time that I need help from the others. Now I feel, that I'm coming to better and better shape all the time and life is getting easier as I can do so much more myself after a long time. And my dream of becoming into best shape will come true this year!

Power Outage

We had a power outage of few seconds today when I was just doing my training session. Now I have tested how the program continues if the console is turned of in the middle of the session, and it worked better than I was afraid of. I had just ended my warm up when the outage came and I was just guided how to do the first drill of the actual workout. The program started from the beginning but I had to do only a short warm up of three drills instead of starting totally from the beginning of the long warm up I had already done once. I used totally one and a half hour to my exercise even if it should have been 45 minutes long. Luckily I wasn't exercising in any hurry.

The weather is still very warm but it was easier to do the long aerobic session when I hadn't run before the exercise. I'll run again tomorrow. Otherwise the life is now on summer break and every day we are finding out good activities for the kids to do outdoors now that it's finally warm there. So it's swimming pool, ice cream, biking, snacks, etc. going on all the time.

Running Exercise in 29 Degrees

Today I did the last hard running exercise before the quarter marathon, which is coming in 11 days. I ran 45 minutes with 140-160 heart rate and did few faster spurts. The most challenging thing was the weather, 29 Celsius degrees in the shadow, which was after all OK. I've been more careful with my eating and drinking before the running exercise lately so the stomach and the whole body deals with the weather better. I have also started to run all the exercises couple of hours after the lunch to run the same time as the running events start so it means running in the hottest time of the day.

Now on I do only 20-30 minutes running exercises and 60 minutes long run before the opening shot of Move Maraton.

Long Run of 105 Minutes

I did my long run again yesterday and it was the last proper one before the quarter marathon. I tried new way for long running, instead of just running with steady pace, I increased the pace in the end and ran with heart rate of 140-160 the last 30 minutes, and the last few minutes as fast as I could. At first it felt a bit crazy, because my legs were already sore after the first 75 minutes, but then after 15 minutes faster run I felt I got extra power and I could have continue the jogging more than 30 minutes. I easily ran my previous half marathon pace then. 

Nice to have some new things also to my long run trainings as I have ran many years and done the long runs always the same way. I found tips for this fast end long run here.

Stomach Problems Have Returned

In Wednesday, I ran my interval training at home because I didn't have time to run in Tuesday in Vuokatti. Or actually I ran quite a lot but only after my kids in Angry Birds Activity Park, and still we lost the middle child for few minutes. There was five of us in the car when we drove home so all's well that ends well. 

Anyway, I felt I was well-rested when I started the interval exercise, because I had ran only in Leppävirta but all the home trainings I had missed due to the travelling. Running itself felt okay but then my stomach problems returned and I had to rush home and end the running 10 minutes before I was planned. Then my stomach hurted the rest of the day and also yesterday I rest to have good fitness test result today and to make sure that my stomach has time to recover. Not so nice, that the stomach problems return just before I have to run the quarter marathon which I failed two years ago due to stomach cramps. BTW, it's only 15 days to the event!

I have to think about my eatings better and I have to do my running exercises now on in the afternoons to let my stomach get used to running after lunch and other meals than just breakfast. I just had my lunch and now I'll wait again couple of hours before my 30 minutes basic running and the fitness test. Hopefully this was the only time I have stomach cramps this summer!

10 Kilogrammes Weight Loss

It was hard, but now it's done. I just did my weigh-in this morning and finally the scale showed -10kgs result! I'm not going to celebrate any longer and I already decided to speed up a bit because I haven't been in schedule for weeks now. I have to think my eatings more and I have to break the 15kgs target in schedule. This means 5 kilogrammes in 6 weeks!

Long Run in Leppävirta

Yesterday, I ran my longest run this far. It was 105 minutes exercise all together and I ran almost 10 kilometers. Running was fun and it felt much shorter than routes in the neighborhood I run regularly because there was so much to see on the route. And even if I felt tired on Thursday, the long run was again easier and I felt I could have run the route twice. Later I had to recall that did I really spend enough time on the route as it felt like 45 minutes basic run.

Now we are going to Vuokatti, Sotkamo. Hopefully I have time to do my interval exercise there in the middle of Angry Birds vacation we are going to have. In Vuokatti there is good circumstances for many kind of sports and the first Angry Birds park in the world. We're going there tomorrow but first we're spending overnight in hotel with spa.

Calm Before The Storm

In the beginning of the week I felt I could reach the sky and I looked after to have courage to take extra rounds when exercising. It was calm before the storm, I guess. It needed only one very badly slept night and one double training with surprisingly long aerobic session and I had to admit that I need humbleness to proceed slowly towards my targets:
Yesterday I tried again double training as we were travelling today, and I didn't have time to exercise at all today. As my training program of Nike+ Kinect Training has changed now, I just started my aerobic session after the 30 minutes running and realized that the session had lengthen to over 40 minutes. So I ended up to exercise about 1.5 hours with all the warm ups and cool downs. Then we got visitors straight after the training and shower and I had to lay down to children's playroom floor not to faint. I needed a nap afterwards to feel again ok and to get power to pack for our journey.

I was afraid to have flu again as our baby is again in a light flu but last night was again better and I'm ok again. As I rest today I'm ready to have my long run this weekend in Kuopio or Leppävirta, where is lot of high hills ang great landscape. I'm exited to have my 'high level camp' here.

Courage Wanted

I would like to have more courage to exercise more. I haven't really tried any extra rounds since the first week's terrible experience even if I have felt lately that I could do more. I have still overweight and I'm a bit afraid to have injuries if I become too enthusiast with my training sessions. And if I get injuries, I can't run and on the other hand if I don't exercise more I won't make progress anymore. Complicated, isn't it?

I guess I could safely increase the amount and intensity of exercising if I feel that I have recovered when I have to do the next session. And even if I ran with the very high heart rate they five kilometres route last week, my heart rate was in normal level when I did my succeeding 30 minutes running. And during the home training I also feel that I recover well from the preceding trainings.

Today I was just about taking the extra round of muscle drills but I was too busy with other things to do more. Next time I will try the extra round if I have any power left! Now I feel that when I exercise five times a week, I don't have time to increase the number of training sessions just now..

Midsummer Long Run

This Midsummer morning I started with the 75 minutes long run. It felt a bit stuffy but in the end I had exactly the same average pace and heart rate as last week. I think I have never ran in Midsummer day and this morning also almost all the other joggers were home. It was nice to experience such a peaceful rainy running exercise.

After the run I spent half an hour by stretching. I should really remember to do it more regularly. Today I ate the pasta salad we repaired earlier and we had a 'wellies on soccer match' with the daughters outdoors.
